This role is responsible for managing the seamless coordination of rail containers, fostering strong relationships with carrier partners and customers, and leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely deliveries. This role is responsible for managing the seamless coordination of rail containers, fostering strong relationships with carrier partners and customers, and leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely deliveries. Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute intermodal strategies to optimize the movement of goods via rail and truck, ensuring cost-effective and timely deliveries for clients.
- Manage relationships with railroads, drayage carriers, and customers, negotiating competitive rates and resolving operational challenges to maintain service quality.
- Oversee daily intermodal operations, including load planning, equipment matching, and shipment tracking, to minimize costs (e.g., per diem) and maximize efficiency.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and load boards to coordinate shipments, monitor performance, and provide real-time updates to stakeholders.
- Analyze logistics data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and customer-specific requirements, maintaining accurate documentation for all shipments.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of intermodal coordinators, fostering a collaborative environment that aligns with DRT’s values of empowerment and innovation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, customer service, and finance teams to align intermodal operations with client expectations and business goals.
- Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions, such as rail delays or carrier capacity issues, ensuring uninterrupted service.
- Prepare and present performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting operational successes, challenges, and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in intermodal operations or 3PL logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven expertise in managing rail and truck logistics, including knowledge of container types, rail networks, and drayage operations.
- Strong proficiency in TMS platforms and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills, with a track record of securing competitive carrier rates and maintaining client satisfaction.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service and team leadership.
- Deep understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements for intermodal shipping.
- Problem-solving mindset, with demonstrated ability to address transportation challenges and implement innovative solutions.
- Certification in logistics is a plus, but not required.
